NAVI MUMBAI: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Jawahar Customs and Directorate General of Shipping have jointly organised a special session on Direct Port Delivery (DPD) on February 20th 2017 in Mumbai for importers to avail the DPD facility to save on cost, time & other benefits.
Shri Anil Diggikar, IAS, Chairman-JNPT; Shri Sanjay Bhatia, IAS, Chairman, Mumbai Port & Indian Ports Association, Dr. John Joseph, IRS, Chief Commissioner, Jawahar Customs addressed the attending members, who were the CEOs of Export-Import trade. Shri Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Deputy Chairman, JNPT, senior officials of Customs, Terminals & JNPT were also a part of the session.
Answering some of the queries on DPD facility, Shri Anil Diggikar encouraged the importers to firmly avail the facility that can boost their overall productivity and reduce on cost and time. Sharing the details, he informed that JN Port has achieved 8-fold rise in DPD registration in January 2017 alone, and credited this achievement to all those motivated importers. He maintained that JN Port, Jawahar Customs and DG Shipping are committed in equal spirit to support importers in facilitating a global trade practices at the Port. Dr. John Joseph, Chief Commissioner- Jawahar Customs, explained the importance and usefulness of DPD for importers and the way this facility would help them to be ahead on time. He expected importers to raise queries on finding any difficulty in the processes of registration or availing the facility.
Shri Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Deputy Chairman, JNPT, had presented a detailed unique transport solution under DPD that ensures effective yard management for JN Port and brings a reachable evacuation model for importers.
