SCI awarded 'Best Enterprise Award' (Navratna)-3rd Prize for WIPS activity

MUMBAI: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI) has been awarded the ‘Best Enterprise Award (Navratna category) – Third Prize’ at the 27th National Meet of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) held on 11th & 12th February 2017 at Nagpur, Maharashtra. The theme of the National Meet was ‘Planet 50:50 by 2030 - step it up for equality’ and the Chief Guest for the event was Hon’ble Justice (Smt.) Vasanti A. Naik, High Court of Bombay - Nagpur Bench. The award was presented by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and was received byCapt. B.B. Sinha, Director (P&A), SCI along with SCI’s WIPS team members. During the meet, Capt. Radhika Menon, Serving Master, SCI was also felicitated as a WIPS Woman Achiever to commemorate her achievement of being the first woman ever to win the IMO Bravery Award 2016.

In addition to the Hon’ble Chief Guest, the inaugural session was graced by special invitee Dr. Aarti Singh, I.P.S, SP (CID), Nagpur. A panel discussion was held on the theme ‘PSU’s role in setting up equality’ moderated by Ms. Manjusha Bhatnagar, Director (HR), B&L Co. Ltd and participated by Capt. B.B.Sinha, Director (P&A), SCI, Mr. Verghese Cherian, Director (HR), IOCL and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director(P), WCL. The two day Meet was attended by more than 700 delegates in addition to the several members of the WIPS APEX and Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE).

The Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) and its network has been functioning under the aegis of SCOPE since 1989 to promote growth and development of women in PSEs. SCI is one of the Corporate Life members of WIPS. The Best Activity Report award was instituted by the Forum in 1999, to recognise the PSEs / Organisations for their commendable work towards the development of women in their companies. The criteria for evaluation for the Best Enterprise Award include WIPS activities performed in Organisation, WIPS Membership drive, Database submission, CSR & Social activities conducted, Support services in their respective Organisation, participation in Training programmes, Support to WIPS from the Organisation, Training & Development activities conducted by the organisation for women employees.
