AMTOI successfully concludes two Training Programs

MUMBAI: In keeping with its initiative of imparting skill development to its Members and Trade, AMTOI (Association of Multimodal Transport Operators of India) in collaboration with Maersk Training, Chennai, conducted two days training program at St. Xaviers Management Institute, Mumbai on 27th & 28th February 2017. The Topics of the program were “Marine Insurance & Claims” and “Hazmat Awareness”.

The Training Programs on both days were well attended by large number of participants from various Organizations. It was conducted by Capt. Satya Narayan, a Senior Faculty from Maersk Training, Chennai who imparted knowledge on the important aspects of both the Topics as enumerated below:-

1. MARINE INSURANCE AND CLAIMS:- 

Salient features of Marine Insurance and Claims, the very concept and origin of this age old Practice, the mandatory requirements under the prevailing International law, Current Shipping Insurance mechanism, the role of the Insurance underwriters, their syndicate and brokers, the role of Llyods agents, the importance of P & I club, the effective way of handling of claims and the significance of Security measures to prevent such problems etc.

2. HAZMAT AWARENESS:-

An overview  of the ever changing Hazmat requirements & Awareness in developed and developing worlds, the human error angle , cost angle and poor preparedness even in day today surroundings which eventually lead s to heavy loss in terms of men and machinery. Apart from heavy financial implications, it results in environmental hazards and human tragedies, general familiarization in terms of enhanced awareness about Hazmat, its carriage, storage, handling and correct methods of dealing with it. Participants were made to go through latest MSDS sheets, IMDG Code and supplement, basic procedure in safe handling of chemicals, marking & labeling, placard and segregating requirements, stowage plan on board the vessels, emergency procedures in case of fire or spillage.

The participants appreciated the initiative of AMTOI in organizing such Training programs which enhances their knowledge and prepare them to confront any challenge in their day to day operations.

AMTOI would be organizing many such Training programs related to Logistics and Maritime activities in the coming months.  Please watch out for the next Training Program which is proposed to be held by the last week of March 2017.  Registrations for Training programs will be accepted after issue of notice in the Daily trade papers and circulars to members, informed a release from AMTOI.
