NEW DELHI: The Chemical and Allied Export Promotion Council of India (CAPEXIL) has requested the Directorate General of Foreign Trade to allow issuing online RCMCs (Registration Cum Membership Certificate) along with the online format of slightly-tweaked RCMC to adopt the digital set up.
The DGFT recently announced it received a request from the CAPEXIL. The DGFT said it has examined the request and observed that it has not prescribed any specific mode i.e. manual or online, for the issuance of RCMCs by the Export Promotion Councils (EPC).
“Accordingly, the question of granting permission for issuance of online RCMCs does not arise,” it said.
The DGFT also clarified that for introducing online applications, its processing and subsequent issuance of a certificate, EPCs need not seek any permission from DGFT.
To keep pace with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Digital India” vision, the DGFT has urged all EPCs to adopt the online mechanism for issuance of Certificates. Instructing the EPCs to be in sync with the changing digital environment, it said, ‘that to be in sync with the current digital environment all EPCs may lay down a timeframe and a roadmap for a changeover to the online issuance of RCMCs and share the same with this Directorate.’
This notification was addressed to all the EPCs and FIEOs in the Country.
