CHENNAI : ChPT has explored four possible options for the alignment from Chennai Port gate number ten near Fort St George and Napier bridge over the cooum river. The same have been forwarded to the State Government to suggest a solution to the issues raised by them that the corridor blocks the free flow of sludge in the river.
The detailed project report for the revised project will be prepared by National Highway Authority of India once the concurrence is received from the State Government.
Work on the project could resume in all likelihood by the end of the year and completed by 2020. Another proposal has also been mooted to extend the corridor by another 20 kilometers up to Sriperumpudur.
The first meeting of the technical committee constituted by NHAI for study of the revised design and modification in the alignment was held on March 3.
