NAVI MUMBAI: JNCH, in its recent Public Notice No. 65/2017 has informed the trade that, “Customs is working on 24 X 7 basis as regards to various customs activities and committed to provide efficient & prompt services.”

However the Trade / Importers represented that they are facing difficulties in early clearance of cargo if Bill of entry is filed either on Friday evening or Saturdays as they have to wait till next working day if such Bill of entry is not facilitated for assessment. It has also been noticed that though number of such import declarations (Bills of Entry) are less in numbers but there is need to provide for mechanism / institutional set up so that there is no delay in clearance of such consignments.

Acting upon this grievance of the Trade, JNCH has clarified that, “it has been decided that all assessment group will also function on every Saturday. It has to be ensured by each assessment group working on such Saturdays that there is no pendency of bill of entry by the end of day.”

Difficulty, if any may be brought to the notice of Deputy / Assistant Commissioner in charge of Appraising Main (Export) or Appraising Main (Import) through email / phones (email address: apmainexp@jawaharcustoms.gov.in or appraisingmain.jnch@gov.in, Phone No : 022-27244959, 022-27244979.
