MANGALORE: The proactive business promotion drive by New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), conducting business meets at various locations in the hinterland, had yielded positive results.
The Port had organised a series of business meets at Mysore/Mandya recently, interacting with various exporters like Deccan Agro Industries Private Limited, Bangalore and others.
The said firm has now moved its cargo through the Port, with the first consignment of fresh papaya grown in Mandya district being exported on June 4, 2017 in the container vessel M.V. Tiger Goman to Jebel Ali, UAE through Maersk Line.
The consignment was for Southern Stars Fruits and Vegetables Trading LLC, Dubai for distribution in departmental stores of the UAE. Amogha Shipping Agency was the CHA/Logistics Operator, informed a release.
Mr. P. C. Parida, Chairman, NMPT, expressed happiness over the commencement of new cargo movement and said that exporters have assured to route agro products like tender coconut, elaichi bananas, papayas, etc. through New Mangalore Port for export.
