MUMBAI : In collaboration with Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, SCI is organising a Sammelan on the theme "SAB KA SAATH SAB KA VIKAS" on 15th June, 2017 at Shri Bhaidas Maganlal Sabhagriha, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai-56 from 0930 hrs to 1230 hrs to showcase the achievements and spread awareness on Good Governance Outcomes of GOI & SCI during the last three years.
Hon. MLA & President, Mumbai BJP, Adv. Ashish Shelar has kindly consented to grace the occasion as Chief Guest. In addition, Shri Vinod Tawade, Hon.ble Minister of Higher & Technical Education and Marathi Bhasha & Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra State, Dr. Malini Shankar (IAS), Director General of Shipping has consented to be Special Guest for the said event. Capt. Anoop Kumar Sharma, CMD, SCI, other dignitaries and senior officials of SCI will also be present on the occasion.
SCI has always risen to occasion and contributed towards Nation building. It played a pivotal role in the Mars Obiter Mission, where SCIs two Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) ‘SCI Yamuna’ and ‘SCI Nalanda’ were deployed by ISRO to successfully track the crucial separation of the 3rd stage of the PSLV and the ignition of 4th stage.
SCI is committed to a sustainable path of development. In furtherance of its commitment, SCI has installed a 353.5 kWp Solar Photo Voltaic Power Plant at its Maritime Training Institute at Powai, Mumbai, which is one of the largest installations in Mumbai. SCI has also constructed Compost Pits at its training institute to process organic waste being produced at the institute and use it as manure for gardening.
SCI as part of its CSR initiatives has begun construction of an extension building to Shri Sant Acchyut Maharaj Heart Hospital, Amravati in the State of Maharashtra and is also providing support for the purchase of Medical Equipments & Expansion of a Urology ward at Vivekanada Medical Research Trust, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, for the benefit of public at large. SCI has joined hands in the mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by constructing toilets at Maharahstra, West Bengal, and Punjab, Rajasthan, Port Blair and plans to extend its support in Lakshwadeep for the construction of household toilets. SCI is also trying to empower the girls of financially weaker sections of Orissa by providing bicycles to travel to school and taking a step towards environmental sustainability with a project of Solar Photovoltaic Based Led Street Lighting Systems at various villages of Purnia, Bihar. SCI has also contributed in the fields of maritime education and national sports.
It may be noted that Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sammelan is being organized at various locations across the country to spread awareness about Good Governance initiatives among the common people of vikas and the exemplary work done by the Central Government such as demonetisation, women empowerment, enhancing villages and villagers, raising India’s head in the global order with Make in India programme, digitalising India, harnessing Yuva Shakti for a new India with the Skill India initiative etc.
