Mumbai Port Trust to organize 'Sab Ka Sath Ka Vikas Sammelan' today

MUMBAI : Mumbai Port Trust is conducting ‘Sab Ka Sath Ka Vikas Sammelan’ on 19.6.2017 for North Zone of Mumbai Vibhag at Bhurabhai Hall, Kandivali, at 5.00 p.m. 

Mumbai Port Trust is conducting the Sammelan to create awareness among the peoples about the development and initiatives taken by Mumbai Port Trust and Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India, during the last 3 years and the plans for future development.

Mumbai Port Trust has performed effectively during the last 3 years and this year the port has bagged Award for Best performance in improving efficiency parameters as well as

3rd rank in implementing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan amongst the 12 Major Ports. Port handled highest ever cargo throughput of 63 MMT & about 2.1 lacs automobiles during the year 2016-17, as a fillip to ‘Make In India’ drive of the Govt.

Port is developing its Eastern Waterfront for which consultant HCP design, planning and management Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed for preparing the Master plan.

In the last 3 years, Mumbai Port trust has taken various development initiatives in the Port, shipping & tourism. Some of them are as under:

i)             Modernization of international Cruise Terminal

ii)            Oil Spill Response Facility to combat oil pollution upto 700 tons of oil has been developed at Oil Tanker Terminal.

iii)           Second Chemical Berth (SCB) with modern infrastructure and Fire fighting equipment commissioned.

iv)           Fifth Oil Berth construction is under progress and will be ready by 2019.

v)            RORO passenger service is being developed jointly with Maharashtra Maritime Board from Ferry Wharf to Mandwa so that passengers can travel alongwith their car on their way to Konkan area, thus reducing travel time of at least 3 hours.

vi)           Bunkering facility at Jawahar Dweep

Shri Vinod Tawde, Hon’ble Minister of School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, Higher and Technical Education, Marathi Bhasha, Cultural Affairs, Minorities Development and Wakf, Govt. of Maharashtra will be the Chief Guest and Smt. Vidya Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of State for Women & Child Development, Govt. Of Maharshtra & Shri Gopal Shetty, Member of Parliament & Member of Finance Committee, Govt. of India will the Guest of Honour and all the local MLAs are the special invitees.

The function is expected to be attended by large number of port users, stakeholders and general public.
