GANDHIDHAM: The Board of Trustees of Kandla Port, the only Major Port in the port-studded Gujarat, in a swift implementation of PM Modi’s passing suggestion, which he made at the end of his speech at Kandla during his maiden visit last month, has passed the required resolution to name the Country’s number one traffic handling Major Port after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay, the founder of the Jan Sangh.

Justifying this the PM said that the Country was presently celebrating the centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal this would be a great tribute to Panditji who worked for the poor and nation building.

The resolution has now been sent to the Shipping Ministry for its ratification so that the port could be formally christened as such.
