MUMBAI: The Cochin Sub-Chapter of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), organised a workshop on Customs Procedures, for its members. The invited speaker for the event, Mr K.G. Gireendra Babu (Managing Director of J.N. Freight Forwarders Pvt. Ltd.) headed the workshop. Mr Babu shared his experience over the years, through practical examples, and gave an overview of the Customs Act, required documents and procedures in customs clearance.
The workshop was attended by 12 members of the Association, and was conducted at the premises of DP World, Cochin. This was followed by a tour of the DP World Terminal, as a kind courtesy extended by the terminal to the guests. The members were introduced to the working of the terminal and its container movements, during the visit.
WISTA continues to grow as a networking platform for professional women in the maritime industry, while providing mentoring opportunities to young entrants. Among its many achievements, the President of WISTA India, Ms Sanjam Sahi Gupta, was recently appointed to the Board of World Maritime Universtiy, becoming the only Indian lady to hold this position.
