Bombay Overseas Freight Brokers Association (BOFBA) re-elects Sanjiv Potnis as Chairman

MUMBAI: Bombay Overseas Freight Brokers Association (BOFBA) held its 64th Annual General Meeting and Annual Get-together in Mumbai on 4th August 2017.

Mr. Sanjiv Potnis, Founding Promoter & Executive Director of Total Transport Systems Ltd., having almost 3 decades of experience in Shipping & Logistics industry was re-elected as the Chairman of BOFBA for the second consecutive term.

The other elected Committee Members are Mr. Prashant Popat, Mr. Anup Deosthalee, Mr. Jayesh D. Gandhi & Mr. Rajiv Mukhtyar.

All the members of BOFBA expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the Honorary services rendered by Mr. Gurudatta Deosthalee as a Secretary for last 15 years, Mr. Kamlesh Gandhi as Treasurer for last 10 years and Mr. Nitin Kayani as Committee Member for last 10 years.

Mr. Vivek Choudhary of Vivek Freight & Logistics and Mr. Vikram Singh Chopra of M.L. Chopra Shipping from Calcutta Freight Brokers Association were present on this occasion.

Mr. Ketan Mehta from Navnit Gandhi & Son welcomed the Chief Guest and all the dignitaries from Shipping and Logistics fraternity present on this occasion.

Mr. T. Venkataraman who happens to be a multi qualified and experienced shipping and logistics professional with more than 4 decades of experience was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He is also a 'F' card holder in Indian Customs having passed Rule 9 exam.

He along with Mr. R. Gopal established Goodrich Maritime Pvt. Ltd. in the year 1997, the flagship of what is known today as Goodrich Group. In a matter of 20 years, they have progressed the fledgling Goodrich Maritime to new heights and today it is the most diversified shipping and logistics Group. He is also an adept at mentoring new Start-ups besides helping ailing projects with strong expertise in Human Relations domain.

Mr. T. Venkataraman, the Chief Guest in his address praised BOFBA for being the one of the oldest association with whom he has been associated since last many years.

BOFBA has been doing a great job since its inception in 1932, he said while adding in lighter note that how during the olden days, Mucadams wearing Topis and Bandis use to visit offices and meet the Shipping Lines as this was the only Association which was recognised by everyone in the trade during those days.

He recalled how he knew about this association even when he was associated with Scindia Steam Navigation long ago and even today BOFBA commands a great respect from everyone in the trade. Goodrich Maritime will always support the BOFBA members and he wished them a very long and fruitful working relationship. He once again thanked the BOFBA for inviting him as the Chief Guest of BOFBA AGM and Annual Get-together.

The Chief Guest was felicitated with a memento and bouquet by Mr. Sanjiv Potnis.

The function was well attended by Leading Shipping and Logistics stalwarts like Capt. Deepak Tewari, Mr. Vivek Kele, Mr. Nityam Khosla, Mr. M.P. Pradhan, Mr. Anand Sheth, Mr. Shashi Tanna, Mr. Nailesh Gandhi, Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Mr. Bharat Thakkar and Mr. Hemant Bhatia.

Mr. T. Venkataraman born in year 1955 has a first class degree in science with additional qualifications in Law, Shipping and Marine Insurance besides being a ‘F’ card holder in Indian Customs and has passed the Rule 9 exam.

His career commenced with the 10 years stint in a premier shipping company, The Scindia Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. Later he had the distinction of having planned and executed successful maritime projects for Balaji Shipping & Shreyas Shipping both of which were trendsetters and even today are dominating their respective domains.

In the year 1997, he along with with R. Gopal established Goodrich Maritime Pvt. Ltd., the flagship of what is known today as Goodrich Group. Over a period of almost 20 years since inception, the fledgling Goodrich Maritime reached the pinnacle into Logistic domain and today is one of the most diversified Shipping and Logistics Group.

During this period Mr. Venkataraman was instrumental in establishing activities such as Liner agency, Tramp agency, Chartering, Bulk Liquids, LCL Consolidation, Intermodal & International Freight forwarding and Total Logistics.

He is also a prolific writer and a versatile public speaker.
