GANDHINAGAR : Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), celebrated the 71st Independence Day of India in a gala manner at the GMB headquarters at Sagar Bhavan in Gandhinagar. To commemorate the occasion, GMB organized a series of activities which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the employees as well as the senior leadership.
At 10 A.M., the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted, followed by recital of the National Anthem by all GMB employees and their families who were present at the occasion.
The Indian flag was unfurled by Shri. Ajay Bhadoo, IAS, Vice Chairman & CEO, GMB.
On behalf of the leadership of GMB, Shri Ajay Bhadoo then addressed the public, reflecting on GMB’s journey from Gujarat’ Non-Major Ports handling mere 3.18 % of total National traffic in 1950-51 to 30 % in 2016-17 and announced the way ahead for the organization. He informed the gathering about the key successes achieved by GMB in the preceding year, both in terms of development of the State’s Maritime sector, as well as internal organizational development at GMB.
He expressed great pride at the fact that Non – Major Ports in Gujarat handled by Gujarat Maritime Board is doing very well. Mr. Bhadoo highlighted the status of various initiatives undertaken by GMB in the preceding year, and called upon GMB employees to maintain their valuable contribution to the organization’s success, in the times to come.
The address was followed by the prize distribution ceremony for the winners who had participated in the Manthan- 2017 (Innovative platform for talent recognition), which is unique exercise of GMB that is aimed on recognizing and promoting the talent among GMB employees.
