CHENNAI: In a Trade Notice dated 29-08-2017, Kamarajar Port has announced mandatory use of VCN and IGM link facility at PCS. The Trade notice reads as follows:

As you are aware that issuance of electronic delivery order by the shipping lines through PCS is one of the “Ease of Doing Business” initiatives taken by Ministry of Shipping.

Presently, all the Vessel Agents has to file the IGM through ICEGATE as mandatory. The IGM Details entered from ICEGATE are very crucial for issuing the electronic delivery order in PCS. Shipping lines are not able to issue electronic delivery order since IGM details are not received by PCS.

In order to ensure the IGM messages are available at PCS, IPA has initiated reconciliation process PCS system with ICEGATE. Hence, PCS can daily cross check of IGM messages received by PCS Vs IGM messages generated by ICEGATE. There is a provision to capture this information at PCS where the shipping lines (Vessel Operating Agent) can enter their IGM details with the Vessel Call Number (VCN).

In this regard, all the vessel operating agents are directed to mandatorily enter the IGM details at PCS after filing at ICEGATE.
