AMTOI held its 18th AGM, elects Nailesh Gandhi as New President

MUMBAI: The Association of Multimodal Operators of India (AMTOI) held its 18th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on 20th September 2017 wherein Mr. Nailesh Gandhi was elected as the New President and Mr. R. K Rubin as Vice President.

Mr. Xerxes Master and Mr. Ravindra Gandhi were elected as Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer respectively for the year 2017-18.

In his last communication as the President of AMTOI, Mr. Vivek Kele expressed his heartfelt gratitude to members and colleagues from the trade for their wholehearted support and encouragement that kept him moving forward and helped him to take new initiatives for the benefit of the community.

Mr. Vivek Kele also highlighted following accomplishments of AMTOI in the past 2 years -

•             Federation of Indian Logistic Associations (FILA)

AMTOI along with 8 other leading industry Associations have conceived the formation of a Federation of Logistics Associations (FILA). 

•             Port Community System (PCS 2.0)

PCS 2.0 is intended to integrate flow of trade related information and function as an electronic platform for all the stake holders involved in the Cross Border trade in India and this will include private and public bodies.

•             Skill Development

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under the 'Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra' (PMKK) guidelines are setting up a National Skill Development Centre (NSDC) at Nhava Sheva. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, CIDCO and JN Port are supporting the project in various capacities. 

•             Amendment of MMTG Act 1993

AMTOI is closely working with office of DG Shipping to discuss and propose amendments to MMTG Act 1993.

•             Goods and Services Tax

To keep the Members updated on the various interpretations of GST laws, couple of seminars has been conducted by AMTOI and Members queries are answered on one to one basis.

•             AMTOI New office premises

The New office of AMTOI at BKC Annexe, Kurla (West) was inaugurated by the founder member Shri Arvindbhai Parikh on 11th September 2017 in the presence of Shri Deepak Shetty, IRS, former DG Shipping, MC Members and Members of AMTOI fraternity. 

•             Training Initiative

The training courses introduced by AMTOI in collaboration with Maersk Training, Chennai for Southern Region Chapter and Mumbai have been very successful and well attended.

AMTOI has taken the initiative of extending these to Gandhidham and Cochin in Partnership with respective Ship Agents Associations.

•             Introduction of AMTOI Business Forum Group on WhatsApp

To increase the outreach of members in sharing their business related activities and info, AMTOI has created a Business Forum Group of members on WhatsApp.

•             Signing of MOU with World Trade Centre, Pune

AMTOI has collaboarated with The Pune wing of World Trade Centre in the field of Trade and business development, skill development, technology sharing, organising seminars and other related issues of mutual interest.

•             Invitation to other Council group operators to join AMTOI Platform

The Managing Committee of AMTOI deliberated to invite other Council group operators to join AMTOI and use its platform in addressing their issues/grievances with the concerned authorities. The objective is to consolidate various segments of the trade and organise their activities under the umbrealla of AMTOI.

•             AMTOI Chapters

To give boost to the Northern Region Chapter (NRC), a three member core committee was constituted which organised meeting of MTOs at Delhi to promote the activities of AMTOI and increase the membership base.

Southern Region Chapter (SRC) is working satisfactorily and have completed 2 years period of organising Training Courses. Meetings are held every quarter to review the SRC working.

Eastern Region Chapter (ERC) is working towards increasing the membership base. It is proposed to commence Training activities in Kolkata in due course of time.

•             Digital and Print Communication

AMTOI continues to communicate with its members and trade at large through Website updates, Weekly News letter, and Quarterly printed magazine and now through a WhatsApp Group.

An insightful presentation by KPMG on “Blockchain in Logistics” was delivered in order to encourage the members to embrace newer technology in their business model to keep pace with the changing technology.

AMTOI also presented Citation Awards for four members who have completed 25 years of Business and service to the trade. The following 4 members received the roll of honours :-

A.            Swift Freight India Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai

b.            Pennon Shipping Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata

C.            Trans Asia Shipping Services (P) Ltd, Cochin

d.            Mags Impex Shipping Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata

Moreover two Special Membership Certificates were awarded to the following members who converted from MTO to Patron & Gold member :-

a)            Teamglobal Logistics Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai – Patron Member

b)            Links Cargo Agencies Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai – Gold Member

Mr. Xerxes Master, Honorary Secretary in his concluding address thanked the outgoing President Mr. Vivek Kele for his contribution in the growth of AMTOI activities during his tenure. He further thanked his colleagues in the Managing Committee and the AMTOI members for their continuous support and cooperation.
