NAVI MUMBAI: A high level workshop on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ was organised at JNPT recently which was attended by Deputy Chairman and Traffic Managers of Major Ports of India.
The workshop was inaugurated by Chairman, Shri Anil Diggikar, IAS, in the presence of Shri Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Deputy Chairman.
A broad overview of measures implemented as part of ‘Ease of Doing Business’ was presented by the Chairman who also emphasised the need to step up efforts to take more steps that would boost trade from all the ports.
Under the Government of India initiatives,’ Ease of Doing Business’ has been the thrust area of JN Port with a focus on creating an ecosystem for trade to flourish with improved infrastructure facilities that will further lead to save time and cost for Export-Import trade.
JNPT has taken a slew of path breaking initiatives under the Ease of Doing Business like Direct Port Delivery (DPD), Parking Plaza, RFID, widening of roads in port area and highways, on-line berthing/ un-berthing, direct port entry, gate automation, inter-terminal transfers of tractor trailers to transform JN Port as the most economical, preferable and sustainable container port in the Country.
Outlining the measures introduced till now, Shri Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Deputy Chairman, said, “Global trade plays a crucial role in the economic growth of the Country.
With a view to facilitate seamless trade, JNPT has been at the forefront of implementing measures that would not only promote trade but enable trading community to do business in a more efficient and globally competitive way”.
Officials from various ports also shared measures implemented at various ports and conducive steps taken under Ease of Doing Business to promote trade.
