Deendayal Port handled record cargo in a month during Jan. 2018

GANDHIDHAM : The Deendayal Port Trust has created a single month record by handling 101.78 lakh MTs of cargo (at Kandla & Vadinar combined) during 1-31st Jan’18, as against the previous best of 98.20 lakh MTs handled during 1-31st July’16.  

The Traffic during current year comprises Dry Cargo 30.988 lakh tonnes (30.438 lakh tonnes – last year), increase of 2%, Liquid Cargo-Kandla 12.144 lakh tonnes (10.584 lakh tonnes – last year), increase of 15%, Liquid Cargo-Vadinar  47.385 lakh tonnes (47.079 lakh tonnes – last year), increase of 0.65% over last year.

During the current year upto the end of January, 2018, the DPT has handled 909.89 lakh MT traffic, as against 884.70 lakh MT handled during the corresponding period of last year and thereby, achieving an increase of 25 lakh MT i.e. an increase of 2.85%.

The Port is set to cross the last year’s traffic as well as the target given by the Ministry of Shipping of 106 Million MT during the current fiscal.
