ZIM to focus on “The Power of Being Independent”
MUMBAI: ZIM hosted a Trade Get-Together and felicitated its Key Customers on 28th February, 2018 at Hotel Leela, Mumbai. Senior dignitaries from ZIM Global Head Office including its new President and CEO Mr. Eli Glickman, COO Mr. David Arbel and Mr. Dan Hoffmann, Managing Director & Vice President of Intra Asia Trade, Gold Star Line were present on the occasion to spell out their strategy going forward. Cross section of Indian maritime and logistics trade professional along with other key dignitaries from the trade were present on this occasion.
In his first maiden visit to India, Mr. Eli Glickman, ZIM President & CEO emphasized on achieving the long term profitability despite uncertain market conditions, including freight rates & bunker prices. Speaking about the Nine Month results of calendar year of 2017, he said the numbers are encouraging and ZIM is the one of the best Shipping Lines of the World to have highest EBIDTA margins. He said, we are on the right track, as we continue to outperform the industry - thanks to our unrelenting focus on profitability, efficiency and a customer-orientated approach.
He added, “We are embracing fresh technological initiatives, as part of our vision to offer our customers new and best-in-market services”. He also appraised the gathering of the new Digital Unit in ZIM that will drive the digital transformation of the company and has already been embarked upon. “We intend to foster innovation and technology across the board, impacting every aspect of our operations. Our vision is to combine top-notch technological solutions with a personal and dedicated service to our customers.” “We are going to be leader as a Digital Shipping company”.
Speaking about new initiatives, he pointed, that ZIM is leading the way in introducing blockchain technology to the shipping world.
Going forward, he pointed that ZIM will dynamically increase its presence in the US to Asia into India region (and Vice Versa) looking at the emerging opportunities in these regions. “This is my maiden visit to India and looking at the growing opportunities, we are sure that India will play a lead role in ZIM’s strategic market,” he pointed. We are here to invest in India and to be part of your growth story, he added and thanked the trade for their immense support all through the years with the expectation of enhancing business relationship going forward.
He also emphasized on “The Power of Being Independent” where he said, “ZIM’s restructured network of lines enhances our flagship services within the world’s main trade routes.

Mr. Dan Hoffmann, Managing Director & Vice President of Intra Asia Trade, Gold Star Line spoke about the emerging opportunities coming up in Intra Asia region.
Mr. Indrajit Dasgupta - President India Sub-Continent, Middle East & Malaysia at ZIM, thanked the senior management of ZIM Global Offices, particularly the CEO, COO and Mr. David Arbel for their visit to India along with its esteem customers and eminent dignitaries. He stressed the importance of relationship building and pointed that during last 9 years, ZIM has been able to grow its business by almost 300 percent. This he felt was largely driven by the strong relationship they have with their esteem clientele, which translates into business. Building relationship with customers is of utmost importance instead of limiting the discussion to only transactional business prospects. Speaking about the important pillars of Sales, he said, “One will get the business when his customer believes in him that he can handle his business.” Hence knowing Your Customers in all aspects plays a significant role in acquiring new business and stability and retention of existing Customers, he stressed. He thanked all the esteem clients for their immense trust and confidence and for being a part of this successful journey. He emphasized that Personal Touch and Customer Centricity shall continue to be the core of ZIM strategy going forward in India.
