VISAKHAPATNAM: Cargo evacuation from Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram Ports will become smooth with the commencement of commercial operations of the Container Corporation's Multi Modal Logistics Park besides the National Highway near the ports.
The Park set up at a cost of Rs 300 crores was declared open at Sheelanagar area near the port by Ms. Chandralekha Mukerjee, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair divison. The operations at the railway sidings inside the park began on February 26 when two container trains were operated on a trial basis.
Describing Concor as a big player in the Logistics industry she said the park would offer facilities to the trade and industry.
The logistics park was built on 105 acres of swampland, said Concor General Manager Mr. Yelvender Yadav. He said that “We have so far invested Rs 300 crore or so on the project and in the next phase we will invest Rs 200 crore.”
