TAIPEI: Wan Hai Lines Ltd., the Taiwan based container line has announced the commencement of a service to connect the East Coast Port of Visakhapatnam with Malayasia and Singapore. Wan Hai has joined hands with the Singapore based feeder operator Bengal Tiger Lines ( BTL ) to offer a weekly service by putting in a 4252 TEU’s, 42000 MT GRT ship. The service SC1will arrive on every Fri 16:00 Hrs and sail on Sat 16:00 Hrs.
The service operated with two ships one each provided by Wan Hai and BTL will have the following rotation.
The transit time from Vizag to Singapore will be 3 Days, while to Port Kelang will be 6 Days.
Wan Hai has been a dominant player in the Far East trade from Nhava Sheva operating 3 services a week. They also operate 2 services from Chennai and two services from Mundra a week.
Wan Hai has been studying the Vizag market for sometime now and found this to be an ideal time to make an entry with their own tonnage.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of this service, their Chief Owner’s representative in India Mr. Abby Yang said, Wan Hai has been India focused for the last 5 years and has been continually developing new services to expand their presence in India. Wan Hai is committed in being a major operator in India – Far East trade and is committed to constantly upgrading their services both in terms of capacity and frequency to benefit the trade. After extensive study & seeing the industrial growth in the hinterland on the East Coast of India and the role Vizag plays as a gateway to this region, Wan Hai has taken its first step by putting in its SC 1 service.
To mark the occasion, plaques were presented by Mr. Abby Yang the Chief Owner’s representative Wan Hai to the Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Shri M.T. Krishna Babu, Mr. Sushil Mulchandani of VCTPL Terminal and to the Master of M.V. Wan Hai 508 in the presence of the Deputy Chairman Vizag Port Mr. P.L. Haranadh, the Traffic Manager Vizag Port Mr. G Jai Dev Vandanam, Mr. George Abrao Managing Director Omega Shipping Agencies Pvt. Ltd and other officials from VCTPL.
