GANDHIDHAM : Kandla SEZ (KASEZ) has celebrated its 53rd Foundation day with full of enthusiasm at Hotel Radisson, Gandhidham on March 7, 2017.
The Chief Guest of the function was Shri Ravi M. Parmar, IAS Chairman, Kandla Port Trust.
The function started with lighting of the lamp by Shri Ravi M. Parmar Chairman, KPT, Shri Upendra Vashishth, (DC) Development Commissioner of KASEZ, Shri Krishna Kumar, Joint Development Commissioner of KASEZ, Shri Dinesh Gupta, President, The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Shri Paras Jain, President, Kandla SEZ Industries Association (KASEZIA) and Shri Ajay Kothary, Former President, Kandla SEZ Industries Association (KASEZIA).
In his welcome address, Shri Krishna Kumar, Joint, Development Commissioner of KASEZ briefed about KASEZ and welcomed all the dignitaries. He also said that nearly 26,000 employees are getting employment in KASEZ.
Shri Upendra Vashishth, Development Commissioner of KASEZ thanked KPT for its support and cooperation and said that KASEZ turnover has increased 10% when the export has decreased from the entire local market as well as International trade. He also expected that KASEZ will strive to achieve 5 times growth in next 10 years. He applauded the performance of KASEZ that works jointly in partnership with KASEZ Industries Association. He also briefed about various activities and development i.e. Infrastructure, Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan, Waste Disposal System, 150 KW Solar System, STP Project for water supply.
He further said that KASEZ management has resolved land cases of various units located in the Zone and added that a Garden would be developed in the premises of Zone by Praj Industries. He also outlined various sports activities organized at KASEZ i.e. Carom, Cricket, Kabbaddi, Mini Marathon etc. along with organizing Blood Donation Camps.
In the award ceremony, export awards were distributed to the top Exporters in difference categories.
Shri Ravi M. Parmar, IAS, Chairman - Kandla Port Trust began his address by Congratulating all the Awardees for their excellent performance.
He said that it was a progressive decision to establish the 1st SEZ in Kandla in the year 1965 and after 53 years, there are around 26,000 employees working here. KPT jointly works with KASEZ to enhance the export-import trade. He also applauded KASEZ for achieving Rs. 4,700 crore target during the current fiscal.
He also pointed towards the fact that KPT handled 100 MMT cargo traffic during last fiscal and will achieve 106 MMT target in the current fiscal largely due to the immense support of users, Port Officers and workers.
He also outlined the Smart Industries Port City (SIPC) project that will be develop in 580 acre land on the West Coast area (Gandhidham) and East Coast area in Paradip Port in “Make in India” program under the aegis of Ministry of Shipping. He also said that around 1,000 acre land will be allotted under Smart Port City for Port Based Industries to promote Timber, Chemical, Metallurgical and Salt Industries. Further there will be a residential, commercial, institutional building and affordable housing area in which 2 crores houses will be given to the public. He also mentioned that there was a personnel involvement of his own under the “Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan” mission and was happy to add a new Award Category of “Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan”.
The mementos were distributed to all dignitaries by KASEZ.
