Top executives from KRIBHCO, IFFCO and GNFC engage in knowledge sharing during the course conducted from in May 2017
AHMEDABAD: Top executives from Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertiliser & Chemicals (GNFC), Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), Krishak Bharati Cooperative (KRIBHCO), etc. came together at JBS Academy for a 3-day certification course on ‘Commercial Practices of Railways’at JBS Academy.
The session was conducted by veterans of Indian Railway like H.S. Duggal – Retired Chief General Manager, Indian Railways, and A.K. Pandey – Retired Divisional Operating Manager, Western Railway and D. Chanchodiya – Retired Senior Commercial Manager Western Railway, now working with RITES.
The experts discussed at length the scopes and challenges of the logistics division of Railways, traversing a wide spectrum of topics such as organization of commercial department, laws relevant to railways, booking of consignment by railways, rolling stock characteristics, calculation of freight, movement principles and payment cycle, and various other topics.

Drawing knowledge from personal experiences, the experts demonstrated the day-to-day functioning of logistics sector with the aid of lectures, power point presentations, well designed study material and scores of updated information on the logistics division of railways. “Thanks to the JBS Certification program on Commercial Practices of Railways, I have been able to solidify fundamental concepts about railways and logistics— the possible challenges and ways to overcome them efficiently”, said Kaushik R. Patel, Assistant Manager (Transportation), IFFCO, Kalol Unit.
