CHENNAI: It would be game changer for Kamarajar Port Ennore and Katupalli Port when the Tamil Nadu Government sponsored when the Rs 12,301 crores Chennai peripheral road project is implemented in a few years time.
The State Chief Minister Mr. Edapadi K Palaniswamy said the State Government had sought the financial assistance from Japan International cooperation agency (JICA).
Tabling the demand for grants for the Highways Department which is held by the Chief Minister Mr Palaniswamy said 133 kilometer road around the city would link Mamallapuram about 60 kilometers south of Chennai to Ennore Port about 30 kilometers North of Chennai.
He said the State Government has sanctioned Rs 10 crores for preparing the detailed project report for the project. The proposal for external funding is under the consideration of the Central Government. He expressed confidence to get funding assistance to the extent of 85 per cent of the project cost.
The six lane road will link Mamallapuram,Singaperumal kovi, Sriperumpudur, Thiruvallu, Thatchur, Ennore Port, Katupalli Port. The proposed highway will provide multiple benefits since it would improve connectivity of major industrial and auto hubs in Chennai's suburbs with the Ports North of Chennai.
