New Regular Coastal Service of TCI to connect Mundra & DBGT - Tuticorin

CHENNAI: Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) & TCI Seaways (Division of Transport Corporation of India Ltd) jointly celebrated on board (July 04, 2017) the maiden call of “M.V. TCI ARJUN” calling under the new TCI Weekly Coastal Service connecting Mundra & Tuticorin. The service inaugurated on 04.07.2017 by calling maiden voyage of M.V. TCI Arjun to DBGT connecting North West Region & East Region directly.

The port rotations of this service are Tuticorin – Mundra – Tuticorin.

TCI Seaways (Division of Transport Corporation of India) operate this service through the agency of Vilsons Shipping (p) Ltd.

Total 5 vessels are being deployed for Indian Costal service by TCI Seaways. The vessels calling into different sectors are M.V. TCI Lakshmi, M.V. TCI Prabhu, M.V. TCI Surya & M.V. TCI Vijay.

Mr. EricLavenu, Chief Executive Officer of DBGT wished Mr. R.U. Singh, President & CEO & Capt. Sanjeev Khanijo, Vice President – Commercial for their valuable efforts to start this service through DBGT.

Also he wished the Master of the vessel, the management of TCI Seaways & Vilsons Shipping Pvt. Ltd for the choice of DBGT terminal as a best container terminal in Tuticorin.

He also reassured the commitment of the Company to bring in the best technology in this year 2017 and make the Terminal, “a world class one” and emphasised his commitment to bring back the volume diverted from Tuticorin in the past; and also expressed the volume handling achievement of 0.3 million in 11th June 2017 and the continuous volume growth since the beginning of 2017. DBGT increased the volume handling market share of Tuticorin up to 25-30 %.

In the Inaugural function, the Master of the vessel Capt. Menon Siva Prasad, Mr. U.N. Singh, Branch Head of TCI Seaways, Tuticorin & Mr. Celestine Villavarayar, Director of Vilsons Shipping P Ltd. were honoured by the DBGT management with the memento.

The Vilsons Shipping, Director Mr. Celestine expressed “TCI Seaways Group’s Management confidence in relying upon the performance of DBGT & informed about the management’s plans to deploy the new bigger coastal vessel M.V. TCI VIJAY to the trade via DBGT in near future”.

Length Overall (LOA) of M.V.TCI ARJUN is 143m & capacity to carry of 679 TEUs/7511MTs.

Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal, an ISO 9001 – 2015 Certified Company, Which started its operations from May 2014 with 2 Mobile harbour cranes and 4 reach stackers has been performing continuously better meeting the best international service standards. 

DBGT achieved handling of 3,11,958 TEUs on 5th July 2017.

DBGT has recorded an average berth productivity of 35 moves/hr and Gross Crane Rate of 20 moves/hr with mobile harbor cranes and 17 moves/hr with ship gears.
