MUMBAI: Mr. Arvind Parikh, Chairman of Lemuir Group and Past Honorary Secretary of Association of Multi Modal Transport Operators of India (AMTOI) along with Mr. Deepak Shetty, IRS, Ex-DG Shipping inaugurated the New Office premise of AMTOI at Kanakia Zillion, Kurla (West) in Mumbai on 11th September 2017.

Mr. Vivek Kele – President, AMTOI extended its heartfelt gratitude to the members of Managing Committee, Extended Board and the Trade at large for this historic achievement.

With the expectation of amendment in Multi Modal Transportation Act in future along with a concept of a Self Regulatory Organisation (SRO) in it, the need was felt for a permanent office premise to handle its related work as a Secretariat.

Furthermore, the New Office premise will also serve the purpose to impart strategic training to the industry people at large with specific objectives apart from conducting the monthly Managing Committee meeting.  He also extended his gratitude towards Lemuir Group and CKB Group for hosting the Secretariat of AMTOI since last several years and also thanked Mr. George Abrao of Abrao Group for his generous donation of Rs.21 lacs towards building the Board Room of New Office Premises.

Mr. Deepak Shetty, IRS - Ex-DG Shipping touched upon his personal experience while dealing with AMTOI as an Association during his tenure of DG Shipping. He lauded the performance of AMTOI over the years and its professional approach. Amongst all the stakeholders that DG Shipping had the opportunity to interact with in the past, AMTOI remained one such organisation that stood out distingly because of its professionalism having no hidden agenda. He also touched upon the various initiatives taken to reform the Multi Modal Transportation Act during his tenure and a way forward for having the platform wherein the industry would be empowered and recognised to have a mechanism of due diligence for exercising the statutory power under the MMTG Act and resolve the grievances at large. He also lauded AMTOI in forming the Grievance Redressal Forum (GRF), a platform for dispute resolution of members of the trade. As a piece of advice, he again reminded the members of AMTOI to congregate with different Maritime Associations under a larger body of federation in order to be heard in the powers of corridors. Lastly he once again congratulated the Members of the AMTOI for this momentous occasion.

Mr. Arvind Parikh, Chairman - Lemuir Group, spoke about the different dimensions of how the Multi Modal Transport Operator came into being. He pointed towards yesteryear problem of having different verticals in Logistics industry without any single platform to interact amongst themselves to evolve the industry as a whole. In order to overcome this problem of lack of interaction between different verticals of Logistic industry, SCI Chairman was urged to have a meeting with all the stakeholders to evolve as an industry. Initially this platform was known as Multi Modal Club represented by most of the stakeholders to evolve themselves as an industry which later took the shape of Multi Modal Transport Body. This was how AMTOI was formed which became like a spokesperson of Multi Modal Transport Operators. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards AMTOI for inviting him to inaugurate the New Office premise.

Lastly, a cake cutting ceremony was held in the Board Room of New Office Premise to mark this momentous occasion of AMTOI. Mr. Arvind Parikh, Mr. Deepak Shetty and Mr. George Abrao were felicitated with a bouquet of flowers in the end of the event.
