CHENNAI: Chennai Customs has permitted 24x7 Direct Port Entry (DPE)/Direct Port Delivery (DPD) at CONCOR, Tondiarpet (TNPM) facility, Chennai vide facility Circular no. 16/2018 dated March 16, 2018. Also, the CONCOR terminal has been declared as "designated CFS" for movement of DPD containers lying at the port beyond 2 days, informed a release.
CONCOR had entered into a MoU with Chennai Port for setting up an Extended Gate Common-User Facility at CONCOR, Tondiarpet for decongesting the roads by improving rail coefficient and, thereby, reducing the time taken for movement of containers into and out of Chennai Port terminals. CONCOR will move containers en masse by rail to facilitate the trade with reduced transit time at economical tariff.
It has requested the trade to avail the 24x7 DPE/DPD facility at Tondiarpet for faster turnaround of containers at highly competitive and economical cost, the release emphasised.
