MUMBAI: Seaworld Express Lines UK Ltd. (SEL UK) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in Dubai.
The function was hosted by Seaworld Shipping & Logistics LLC and Seafast Logistics UK, who are the two major shareholders of SEL.
SEL is a non-asset based shipping line and logistics provider with a global network that comprises a select group of logistics and transportation specialists offering reliable and customer friendly, cost effective transportation and logistics solutions for the global trade.
With over 50 members located worldwide and supported by a state-of-the-art integrated IT system, the network provides comprehensive end-to-end visibility of shipments.
The two-day conference was attended by representatives of SEL’s worldwide network of agents. The guest speaker at the event was Capt. Swaminathan, Director – Sales of CMA CGM India, who gave a deep insight into the Indian market and CMA CGM’s future plans for this region.
Mr. Vishal Puri, Director of Seaworld Group, delivered the welcome address, giving an overall scenario of the current shipping industry and the challenges faced by forwarders/NVOCCs as well as the importance of focusing on niche markets and the need to have involvement in infrastructural facilities, to be able to have an edge over competition as there is hardly any scope for improving on the pricing and quality of services in this competitive scenario.
Mr. David Halliday, Partner and Managing Director of Seafast Group, in his opening address, highlighted that the future focus of SEL would be on reefer trade and that the group’s existing reefer facilities at Felixstowe would be expanded and an additional sophisticated cold storage facility would be opened in 2019 at the London Gateway Terminal.
The general feeling among participants was that the big players in the industry today lack the personal touch with customers and this is where SEL should be able to score with its highly motivated customer sales team, who are available 24x7 to deal with requirements of the trade and offer customized logistical solutions to their global clientele.
